WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Piedmont College volleyball team defeated USA South foe Salem College in straight sets to win its third straight match and finish a four-game, four-day stretch on the schedule.
The Lady Lions started out slow finding themselves in a tightly contested first set as the two sat tied at 21 before Salem took two straight to take a 23-21 lead. However, a kill from freshman Anna Wright helped Piedmont right the ship as a Lainey Choiniere ace later ended a four-point run for PC to end the first set.
In the second, the Lady Lions found their legs racing out to a 13-4 lead early in the set though Salem would try to climb back in to avoid the 0-2 hole. With PC in front 19-13 later in the set, the young squad won six straight to cap an impressive bounce back going up two sets to none.
Already up two sets, Piedmont would see the home team push once again in the third before rattling off eight winners in the final ten rallies of the set to earn a 25-19 win in the finale for a straight sets victory on the road in conference play.
