ATLANTA - Two children were among five people killed Sunday just outside Atlanta in a multi-car crash that sent a sixth person to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
The crash happened about 1:45 p.m. when a Mercedes crossed the median on a highway near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and hit other cars head-on before catching fire, said Fulton County Police spokeswoman Det. Melissa Parker.
An infant and three other people in the Mercedes were killed, she said. A child in another car was also killed and the driver taken to the hospital.
The names of the victims were being withheld until relatives can be notified, police said.
Police want to question the driver of a BMW that drove away from the crash, Parker said.
