Longtime White County firefighter promoted to Deputy Chief

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter
White County Public Safety is proud to announce the promotion of Terry Sosebee to Deputy Chief of White County Fire Services.  Sosebee has been instrumental in the evolution and advancement of fire protection in White County for more than 30 years.

A release from White County's Public Safety Department notes that Sosebee began his service with White County Fire Services in 1990 as a volunteer firefighter, when the entire fire service was comprised solely of volunteers. His career has mirrored the growth of the department, from a network of community volunteer fire departments to today’s  White County Fire Services, which now provides 24/7 full-time fire protection.

Since joining full-time in December 2003, Sosebee has risen through the ranks. His leadership roles have included Station 4 Captain (Volunteer), South Battalion Chief (Volunteer), Technical Services Officer, and most recently, Battalion Chief of Operations and Fleet, where he managed operations across the department and ensured critical equipment and fleet readiness.

White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said, “Terry’s experience and deep understanding of our department’s history and mission make him the ideal choice for this role. He’s helped build the foundation we stand on today and I have full confidence in his leadership moving forward.”

Sosebee will oversee the daily operations of the Fire Services Division and support the planning and coordination of emergency response efforts alongside local officials and public safety agencies as Whte County's Deputy Chief.
