KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee reserve linebacker Daniel Brooks went to the hospital on Monday to be treated for a hand infection.
Brooks will have surgery on one of his hands and will miss the next two days of spring practice, according to a statement from the school.
Team officials did not say what caused the infection or which hand was affected.
Brooks, a junior from Jackson, was named a suspect last week in an assault case stemming from a brawl at a party on campus. No charges have been filed.
Witnesses told police fights broke out between a fraternity and the football team at a party. A student at the party said he saw Brooks hit one of his fraternity brothers.
Officials said Brooks' return will be determined after the university's spring break from March 21-25.
