MOUNT AIRY, Ga. – For just the second time since 1996, Habersham Central took down Stephens County Friday night at home, 27-3.
After the Indians kicked a field goal midway through the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead, the Raiders rattled off 27 unanswered points. It started with a Paris Wilbanks 22-yard pass to Jay Feltus to take the lead with eight minutes to go until halftime. Just 84 seconds later, Wilbanks rushed in for an 11-yard rushing score to go up, 13-3.
Wilbanks scored again at the midway point of the fourth quarter to cap a nine-play drive to go up 20-7 before Donnie Warren capped a huge night with a 50-yard touchdown run.
Warren finished the day with 26 carries for 188 yards, while WIlbanks added 60 rushing yards to a 9-for-17 passing day for 126 yards.
Habersham Central will host Flowery Branch next week.
