PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. – A lot of points were scored Friday night at Wesleyan, but it was the Wolves who ended up on the right side of the score as they took down Commerce, 45-27.
The Wolves jumped out to a 14-0 lead that held until late in the second quarter when Layden Bryson scrambled for a 6-yard touchdown to cut the lead in half. That would not hold for long as Wesleyan returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to retake a 14-point into intermission.
Wesleyan extended their lead to 28-7 before Jace Lyle found his way to paydirt to cut the lead to 28-13. The Wolves answered on the ensuing drive, but the Tigers wouldn't go quietly as Bryson found a 41-yard touchdown with a two-point conversion that made the score 35-21.
The Wolves pulled away in the fourth quarter, scoring a field goal and a touchdown before Essien Lockleer broke free for an 11-yard catch from Bryson to get to the final score.
Commerce will look for their first win of 2025 next week when they host East Jackson.
