CUMMING, Ga. – After a lengthy weather delay and falling behind early, East Forsyth showed resilience Friday night to take down Forsyth Central, 19-15.
The Broncos had two early turnovers that the Bulldogs converted into six points, but Jony Aguilera answered for East Forsyth with a 26-yard field goal to cut the lead down to 6-3. After a pair of Bulldog field goals pushed the lead out to 12-3, Brooks Smallwood bounced to the outside and found the endzone from three yards out to cut the lead to 12-10 just before halftime.
In the second half, Aguilera got the Broncos in the lead with a 25-yard chip shot, but the Bulldogs responded with a field goal of their own to go back in front, 15-13. Smallwood was the answer again for the Broncos, punching it in from four yards out to take the lead for good, 19-15.
Forsyth Central had an opportunity with just over two minutes to play after a muffed punt gave the Bulldogs great field position, but a huge stand on fourth and inches gave the Broncos the win.
East Forsyth will open their home schedule next week against Dawson County.
