Jefferson crushes Banks Co.

HOMER - Jefferson moved to 5-0-1 on the season, as JJ Brueshaber dominated the Leopards, giving up only 2 hits and striking out 5 of the 10 batters he faced over his 3 quick innings of work.<br> <br> Alex Simmons followed with 5 strikeouts in his 2 innings of work, but struggled with control and walked 4. <br> <br> Mark Price and J Wood closed the game with an inning each, with Price getting 1 strikeout and Wood getting 2 strikeouts. <br> <br> The pitching quartet gave up 5 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned, recorded 13 strikeouts and gave up 4 walks and 1 hit batter. <br> <br> The Leopards were led at the plat by J.T. Elrod going 2 for 3. Raymond Vasquez contributed a double, while Thomas Baugh and Rob Allen added singles. <br> <br> Jefferson&#39;s defense was solid, committing only 1 error on the night.<br> <br> The Dragons were led at the plate with Andy Songer going 2 for 3 (a double and a triple), plus a walk and sacrifice fly, Tyler Holbrook going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, and Chris Davis going 2 for 4, including a double. <br> <br> First Baseman Kory Potts reached based safely all four at-bats, including a double, and scored 3 runs. <br> <br> Also getting hits for Jefferson were Wade Johnson, Jake Gurley and Chase Rylee. Banks County Bradley Angel went the distance, giving up 10 hits, 11 runs, only 4 of which were earned, striking out 3 and walking 2. <br> <br> He did not get much support form his defense, which committed 6 errors behind him.<br> <br> Jefferson faces White County next at home on Wednesday at 5:30.<br> <br> (By Wayne Price)
