GAINESVILLE - Former Gainesville School Superintendent Ed Cook has died. <br>

Dr. Cook, who was 85, died Wednesday. He retired several years ago after taking the helm of the city school system in 1976. He came to Gainesville after a 29-year career with the Atlanta Public Schools.<br>

Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Ward's Funeral Home.<br>
