GAINESVILLE - Former Hall County Emergency Management Agency Director Willard Baxter died Monday night at his home in Gainesville following an extended illness.
Baxter, 71, a retired longtime county employee, was also a former Warden of the Hall County Correctional Institute. He was also an ordained Baptist minister who served as chaplain for the Hall County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Baxter was also a Master Woodturner and was instrumental in organizing several woodturning chapters. He was a past president of the Georgia Association of Woodturners. (The photo accompanying this story is from the Web site of the Carolina Mountain Woodturners, carolinamountainwoodturners.org.)
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 at Lakewood Baptist Church. (See obituary elsewhere on this site.)
