GAINESVILLE - Brenau University launches the 2003 Annual Loyalty Fund Drive with a breakfast meeting of community business leaders who will volunteer to help with the drive. The meeting is scheduled for 8:00, Oct. 2 in Yonah Hall Dining Room.

"Brenau celebrates its 125th year in 2003 and so this year we have a campaign goal of $125,000, which will be used for student scholarships," said Director of Development Gary Hillier. "This year, 88 percent of the Women's College students receive some type of financial assistance and of that group, 45 percent are from the local area," he continued.

The leadership of the campaign includes Jim Walters, Dick Leet , Richard Hunt, Jim Moore, Tyler Smith, Carlos Dominguez, Strother Randolph, Gary Riley, Ray Burch, Libby Caldwell, Walton Moore, Wyc Orr , Lydia Sartain , Frank Simpson and John Melvin. In addition, these leaders will be supported by over 70 other volunteers from the private and corporate community.

The volunteers will solicit on behalf of the university during the month of October.

"There is incentive for giving to Brenau," said Vice President of Institutional Advancement Jim Barco. "Currently one out of four teachers in Gainesville/Hall County has gone to Brenau. More than 3,500 alumni live within a 50 mile radius of Gainesville and contribute to the workforce and economic stability of our local economy. And, last year Brenau hosted approximately 100,000 visitors in the galleries, theatres and meeting rooms. Without Brenau, Gainesville and Hall County would be a very different place."
