DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Dawson County opened its 2025 season with a pair of wins at home on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers shutout Sequoyah 6-0 in the first game and then capped off the afternoon with a 6-3 win over Class 6A Lambert, a playoff team from a year ago.
In the first game, Hannah Walden drilled a three-run home run to left and Sadie Dotson tripled in a run to cap a four-run fourth inning to blow the game open.
Madison Dudney got the win in the circle, scattering five hits and three walks while fanning three in a complete-game effort.
In the second game, the Lady Tigers (2-0) battled back from a pair of early deficits to get the victory. Lambert led 2-0 in the second and 3-2 in the third.
But Dawson County tied the game in the fourth, took a 4-3 lead in the fifth on a RBI single by Hannah Walden, and plated a pair of insurance runs in the sixth on RBI hits from Addi Prewitt and Avery Heidt.
Carley Grizzle earned the win for Dawson County giving up three runs on six hits in six innings, striking out two and walking none.

RABUN COUNTY 1
Izzy Anthros struck out 19 batters, a new program record for strikeouts in a game, for the Lady Panthers in their season-opening win in a pitcher’s duel at home on Saturday.
Presley Burrell took the tough-luck loss for Rabun County. Burrell went six innings, surrendering three runs (just one earned) on nine hits while striking out three.
Union County took a quick 1-0 lead in the first on a one-out RBI hit from Lexi Davenport but Rabun County tied the game in the fourth on a RBI single by Kenlee Hedge.
The Lady Panthers scored twice in the bottom of the sixth when Peyton Grisham singled in a run and they got a huge insurance run later in the inning on a passed ball.
Anthros struck out two more batters in the top of the seventh and got a comebacker to the mound to close out the win.
