WATKINSVILLE, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff opened its Region 8-3A schedule with a 15-2, six-inning rout of Oconee County on the road on Tuesday.

Haley Stephenson and Audrey Graham both cranked home runs as part of a 16-hit offensive assault.

Stephenson had three hits and drove in three runs while Jaycee Archer also had three hits for the Lady Bears (2-1, 1-0 Region 8-3A). Graham, Quinn Kiewert, Addy Cagle, and Claire Carlson all had two hits and combined for 8 RBI on the day.

The Lady Bears scored in all but one inning and put the game out of reach with six runs in the top of the sixth.

Payton Davis earned the win for Cherokee Bluff yielding just one hit and striking out four in three innings. Archer threw the final three innings scattering two hits.

Cherokee Bluff next will play host to Seckinger on Wednesday in a non-region contest.

EAST FORSYTH 2,
MADISON COUNTY 1

The Lady Broncos opened up their Region 8-4A season with a tough win at home.

East Forsyth scored a pair of runs in the first and Aubrey Bashor made that stand up in the circle.

Bashor went the distance, allowing just two hits while striking out three but it didn’t come without some seventh inning drama. Madison County scored its only run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly and had the go-ahead run on base. But East Forsyth catcher Tatum Porter gunned down a runner trying to steal and Bashor induced a ground ball to end the game and preserve the win.

The Lady Broncos’ two runs came on a RBI single from Emma Hodges and a two-out RBI double from McKenna Hall.
