COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. — North Forsyth opened Region 6-6A play with a doubleheader sweep of South Forsyth on Thursday.
The Lady Raiders took 9-2 and 11-9 wins at home, pounding out 28 hits in the two games.
In the opener, North Forsyth (3-3, 2-0 Region 6-6A) plated four runs in the first inning and then cruised to victory behind a complete-game effort from Addison Walker. Walker surrendered just two runs on eight hits. She also drove in four runs, including a two-run home run.
Artemis Eaton led the offense with three hits. Lindy Ledden, Ella Rouse, and Hartley Hurt all had two hits in the game.
In the second game, the Lady Raiders rallied from a pair of early deficits, using a seven-run fourth to grab the lead after trailing 6-2.
In the fourth, Avy Tout, Eleanor Sneddon, Hurt, Ledden, Brylee Britt, and Rouse all had RBI hits in the inning to go along with a South Forsyth error to take a 9-6 lead. But the Lady War Eagles rallied to tie the game at 9 in top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ledden homered to right and Paige Averitt singled in a run to break the tie.
Carlyann Wilkes worked around a walk and a single in the seventh to get the win in relief.

Buford opened its Region 8-6A schedule with a four-inning rout of the rival Lady Hawks at the Buford Softball Complex.
The Lady Wolves (2-0, 1-0 Region 8-6A) exploded for a quick 6-0 lead after the first inning, getting help with two bases-loaded walks and an error by Mill Creek. The added four runs in the third on a pair of two-run home uns from Ella Pierce Hensley and Addie Rackley for a 10-0 lead.
Buford put it out of reach when Olivia Nagel knocked in two runs on a double to left.
Caroline Stanton got the win, striking nine and surrendering just one hit in four innings.
Brooklyn Atha and LG Goldin each had two hits for the Lady Wolves.
NORTH HALL 10,
PICKENS 1
Genesis Satterfield had two hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs to lead the Lady Trojans to a Region 6-3A win at home.
The win moved North Hall (6-1, 3-0 Region 6-3A) into a first-place tie with Lumpkin County. Those two teams will meet on Tuesday in Dahlonega in an early battle for the region lead.
Against Pickens, it was a close game as North Hall led just 3-0 after third. It stayed that way until the fifth when the Lady Trojans scored four runs, highlighted by a two-run double from Cali Bales.
Satterfield put it out of reach with a three-run triple in the sixth for a 10-1 lead.
Hadleigh Crumley took the win for North Hall, scattering six hits and allowing just one run over six innings, striking out three.
Kyndall Lipscomb and Alizah Schlieman both had two hits for the Ladt Trojans.
