Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation High School/Junior Tournament at Laurel Park on Lake Lanier today

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

For the lake lovers expecting a cool, quiet day out at Lake Lanier's Laurel Park in Gainesville on this late-February weekend, do not be surprised to see anything but a wide open shoreline and empty lake, void of any boating action.

Saturday, February 22 marks the first tournament event for Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation's High School/Junior event for their 2024-2025 season.  Dozens of teams are expected to compete for the top angler prizes through the Georgia Bass Nation event.

Many trucks with bass fishing boats in tow were travelling before dawn to get in place for the sunrise event, as fishing anglers between 8th and 12 grades in two member team tandems are preparing for a day to remember, despite the cold morning temps.
