Former Towns County deputy arrested after falsely reporting shooting, GBI says

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

After a Towns County deputy was reportedly shot in December of last year, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is now saying that the deputy falsely reported the crime.

26-year-old Austin Bradburn of Blairsville was arrested on charges of false report of a crime and violation of oath of office. Multiple counts of false statements and violation of oath charges from Hall and Union Counties were also issued.

Bradburn initially reported that he was shot during a traffic stop on Plottown Road in Young Harris.

After an investigation by the GBI, the agency said what they found “support the charges against Bradburn.”

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Towns County 9-1-1 or the GBI Tipline at 800-597-TIPS (8477).
