Inflation is a concern for Georgia commuters and retailers alike, when it comes to cost coverage and spending. Declining gas prices in Georgia is helping to ease some of those concerns.
The Georgia gas price average continues to decline at the pumps compared to a week ago. Georgians pay an average of $3.06 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline as of Monday. AAA's state average chart shows the average price is 8 cents less than a week ago, 19 cents less than a month ago, and 51 cents less than this time last year.
Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman says, “Low demand post-Labor Day, crude oil prices trending under $70, and no major storms in the gulf threatening refineries, keep pump prices low for now.”
Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline decreased by 6 cents to $3.27. After idling over the Labor Day weekend, the national average for a gallon of gas resumed its pace of daily declines. Key contributors are low gas demand and the plunging cost of oil, which is struggling to stay above $70 a barrel, the lowest average since June of 2023.
Commuters in Hall County are paying an average price of just below $3 per gallon, with the lowest average price for northeast Georgians found in Stephens County, at $2.92 per gallon. The highest average in northeast Georgia is in White and Lumpkin Counties at $3.13 per gallon. A link to the AAA gas price average chart can be found, here.
