A former Boy Scouts of America leader in Lumpkin County was arrested in a child molestation case.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), 61-year-old Andrew Howard Whaley of Cumming was arrested on May 16 on one count of child molestation and one count of possession of child pornography in Lumpkin County.
Whaley was also charged in Forsyth County with six counts of creation of child pornography and 13 counts of eavesdropping/surveillance.
The GBI was requested to investigate the case on April 18 of this year. During the investigation, it was determined Whaley was a former Boy Scout leader and that he allegedly sexually abused a boy that he met during his time there.
The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the GBI executed search warrants at Whaley’s residence and a business in Lumpkin on May 16.
That is when agents reportedly found evidence of child pornography. Further investigation led to the discovery of a hidden camera in a bathroom at Whaley’s home in Forsyth County that he allegedly used to film minors.
Whaley remains at the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office as of last report.
