By Will Daughtry News Reporter

John "Tripp" Wingate III won Tuesday's runoff election for Hall County State Court Judge.

Wingate defeated Andy Maddox with just over 60% of the vote Tuesday after finishing second to Maddox in the May 21 primary election. He will replace John Breakfield, who left the seat to run for a superior court judgeship.

Wingate is a 1993 graduate of Georgia Southern University and started his legal career as a law clerk before joining the law firm now known as Myers & Wingate in 1999.
