The Hall County State Court Judge race is heading to a runoff after frontrunner Andy Maddox secured over 44% of the vote.
John "Tripp" Wingate III obtained 29% of the vote while Brian Heck pulled in over 26%, sending the race to a runoff election planned for June 18, according to officials.
Maddox will run against Wingate in that summer election.
“I have a long history of experience serving this community, and a track record that proves my dedication to the rule of law and fundamental fairness,” Maddox said. “I know Hall County, I care about the people here, and I will leverage my experience across the court system in a way that truly honors this position. I am running for State Court to give back to this community that I love.”
“My legal career and background show that I am qualified, am willing to put in the time to do the work, and have experience with a wide variety of people and problems," Wingate said. "While I have been sitting in the same chair behind the same desk in the same law office on Green Street for the past 24 years, I have not forgotten the great opportunities and learning experiences provided to me during my formative years while working on my grandparents’ farm, working at a True Value hardware store, driving a vending machine route, and selling men’s clothing”.
