Barrow County hires its newest Public Information Officer

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Barrow County's government offices have selected its next Public Information Officer.

A release from Srikanth Yamala, Barrow's County Manager, names Brian Stewart, as the county’s new Public Information Officer, effective April 22. Stewart is currently the Digital Media Specialist for Hall County's government offices.

Stewart has served in his role with Hall County since December 2018. Prior to that, he spent more than four years as a show host, anchor and reporter here at AccessWDUN.

“It is truly an honor to serve as the county’s first Public Information Officer, and I can’t wait to connect even further with this deeply-rooted community,” said Stewart.

Yamala says, “Brian brings a strong communication background into this newly created role, and we are confident in his ability to share the county’s story in a variety of ways, thanks to his experience both in local government and local media,”

Stewart is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Digital and Broadcast Journalism. He is a member of 3CMA (City-County Communications and Marketing Association).
