The City of Gainesville is now recognized as one of the South's, "Best Cities on the Rise in 2024", according to a popular publication.
"Southern Living" magazine's March edition will post its annual listing of regional communities showing growth and improvements, and Gainesville makes the list at number 17 out of its top 25 cities in 2024.
Southern Living editors compiled a large list of cities based on research, reporting, and experiences from its own staff, with readers also selecting their top picks in the magazine's annual South’s Best Awards survey.
The article shows Lake Lanier's sprawling footprint for fun in the sun and plenty of recreation options as a main draw to the region. Southern Living also credits Plus the boutique-filled downtown district and a rising growth of new restaurants as an added draw.
