The Barrow County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday the death of a retired K9.
K9 Dax died on Monday according to a social media post from the sheriff's office. Officials said Dax had responded to hundreds of calls in his career and was living out his retirement with his handler.
"Proficient in detecting narcotics' odor and skilled in suspect apprehension, he was not only a robust K9 in the region but also displayed remarkable gentleness towards family, friends, colleagues, and children," Tuesday's post by the sheriff's office said. As we mourn the loss of Dax, we kindly ask for your thoughts and prayers during this challenging period."
Officials said a memorial service will be held for K9 Dax in the coming days.
