The Towns County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on Sunday after he was found in possession of methamphetamine.
The agency said Carmelo Cruz Lopez, 28, illegally resided in Hiwasesee but is originally from Mexico.
Deputy Justin Osborn responded to a suspicious person's report at the Marathon Gas Station at 1883 Hwy 76W.
The deputy located Lopez and during the investigation, probable cause was established. The deputy then searched Lopez's vehicle and found a substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine.
Lopez was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and felony possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $2,000.
Officials said Lopez was released to I.C.E. custody on Monday. Jail records show Lopez has been deported before.
