A controlled burn Monday is the reason for heavy smoke and diminished visibility in parts of White County today Tuesday.
A press release and social media post by White County's Public Safety department says a controlled burn was conducted late Monday afternoon and early evening in the area of Asbestos Road by State Route 75.
The burn did cause pockets of limited visibility through the overnight hours Monday and into the early morning, but the controlled burn was monitored and under control at all times by safety officials on scene.
Expect lingering visibility and diminshed air quality through the day. Area weather forecasts call for showers late Tuesday and through much of Wednesday afternoon, and are expected to clear any issues.
