Gas prices drop slightly in Georgia for the first time in three weeks

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Georgia commuters will see a slight drop in their gas prices at the pumps this week, following three previous weeks of increases.

AAA of Georgia's weekly update shows the statewide average price for unleaded regular gasoline (as of Monday, February 26) was at $3.13 per gallon.  This is a three cent decrease from one week ago, but 12 cents above the average from just one month ago, and nine cents below the average price from one year ago.

Montrae Waiters of Triple-A says the drop in price is due in part to the news of a BP-Whiting refinery in Indiana, which has been offline since early February due to power issues, will be reopening soon.

Hall County drivers will see an average price of $3.10 per gallon today (Monday), with the lowest average throughout northeast Georgia listed in Rabun County at $3.04 per gallon.

Nationwide, commuters are seeing an average price for unleaded regular gasoline at $3.26 per gallon.
