The Georgia gas price average declined by one cent compared to a week ago, according to a release from AAA of Georgia.
Monday’s state average was reported at $2.99 per-gallon for regular gasoline. The average is two cents more than a month ago, but 15 cents less compared to the same time last year.
“This is a reminder to drivers that we are experiencing a seasonal impact, transitioning from winter gas to the spring mixture, igniting the inevitable rise in prices, as the summer-grade fuel demands a heftier manufacturing cost,” Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman said in a release.. “Good news for Georgians is that we saw a modest dip at the pumps; however, we can’t predict that there won’t be higher gas prices this week.”
Nationally, the average cost for gasoline was $3.14 per-gallon, a one cent decrease compared to last week’s average. The release said gasoline demand decreased from 8.57 million barrels a day last week to 8.23 million. Total domestic gasoline supply dropped from 248.1 million barrels to 247.9. Gasoline production also declined last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels per day, according to AAA.
Some of the most expensive gasoline in the Northeast Georgia area was found in Gainesville at $3 per-gallon, while some of the least expensive gas was found in Dawsonville with an average price of $2.89.
