FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Jefferson scored three runs in the final two innings to rally for a crucial Region 8-5A 3-1 win in 8 innings over Flowery Branch on Wednesday.
Madison Hanchey singled and Alivia Gober doubled in runs in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie. The Class 5A 2nd-ranked Lady Dragons (14-4, 10-2 Region 8-5A) trailed 1-0 from the outset after the Lady Falcons scored on a RBI single from Laney Price in the first inning.
Branch pitchers Casey Beaver and Peyton Baker made that stand up until the seventh. In the seventh, Jenna Rapp belted a two-out solo home run to tie the game to send it to extra innings.
Addison Self got the win for Jefferson, going the distance scattering five hits and striking out 11.
Jefferson next will play host to No. 10 Eastside (15-4, 11-2 Region 8-5A) on Thursday with first place on the line.
