The Gwinnett County Police Department has now identified both the victim and suspects in a shooting that occurred at an Applebee’s location in Stone Mountain Monday.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a “person shot” call in the parking lot of an Applebee’s located at 5200 Stone Mountain Highway. Upon arrival, officers found one male victim in the lot between the restaurant and an O’Reilly Auto Parts. The victim was identified Wednesday evening as Harris Baysassie, 21, of Lilburn.

Baysassie died shortly after arriving at a local hospital due to the severity of the injuries.

During the course of the investigation, detectives looked into the possibility that there was an exchange of gunfire between the victim and the suspects. Additionally, there was nothing indicating the victim had dined at the restaurant prior to the shooting.

Detectives continued to work around the clock this week and identified two suspects in the shooting Wednesday evening.

Tristyn Derriun Mays, 17, of Lawrenceville, and Nyzerrius Carter, 19, of Lawrenceville, were both arrested and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. Mays has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, while Carter has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence, according to Gwinnett officials.

Detectives are still working to identify any additional suspects who may have been involved in the incident. Those with information are being asked to contact authorities by calling Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477. Tipsters who provide relevant information are eligible for cash rewards.
