By Christian Ashliman Anchor/Reporter

A fatal single-vehicle wreck in Lumpkin County Thursday left a three-year-old girl dead after the car traveled down an embankment and overturned in a river.

Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to the scene of the crash on July 13. It was determined that a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk was entering a private driveway near Whitewater Trail. As the driver of the vehicle was turning, officials report the tires went off the driveway, forcing the vehicle down a steep embankment.

The vehicle then struck the roadway of Whitewater Trail and then traveled down a second embankment before it overturned into the Chestatee River.

The driver, Cadie Barron, 38, of Dahlonega, was entrapped along with three other juveniles.

Barron reportedly suffered minor injuries. One of the juveniles, a three-year-old, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to GSP official Konswello Monroe.
