By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Construction on a new fire station in Hall County is about to begin.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. to officially begin construction on the new Hall County Fire Station 17.

The new facility will be located on Holiday Road in Buford, approximately four miles from Lake Lanier Islands.

A release from the Hall County Communications Office says the station is an integral piece of the county's Rescue Master Plan, which outlines the ways it can manage its public safety resources strategically.

Fire Chief Chris Armstrong says Fire Station 17 will be equipped with the latest technology and equipment to ensure that Hall County Fire Rescue can serve the citizens to the best of their abilities.

The target date for completion of Fire Station 17 is March 2024.
