Fire destroys home in Jackson County late Tuesday afternoon

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

An investigation is underway behind what exactly triggered a raging house fire in Jackson County Tuesday afternoon that destroyed a large portion of a home on the county's south side.

Social media posts from the South Jackson Fire Department and other Jackson County sites reported that at approximately 3:37p.m. Tuesday several fire units from Nicholson, South Jackson, Jackson County CI & Jackson County  EMS were dispatched to the 3000 block of New Kings Bridge Road for a residential fire.

Officials say the first arriving units found the structure well involved in flames, but were able to quickly bring the fire under control.  Exact extent to the damage has not been released, but most of the home was fully destroyed by the flames. There was no indication of any injuries from the early investigations.
