The suspect in a January shooting on the west side of Gainesville was arrested recently in Texas and is now in the Hall County Jail.
Gainesville Police officials confirmed Thursday that Guillermo Vazquez Martinez, age 43, is in the Hall County Jail without bond and facing a list of charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery and attempted murder.
Martinez was identified as the primary suspect shortly after the shooting at the Village Shoppes on Dawsonville Highway on January 31. Two adult males were critically injured in that shooting.
Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said the department worked with federal partners to track Martinez to Houston, Texas where U.S. Marshals arrested him.
