Diletto Bakery to close Spout Springs Library location

Gainesville-based Diletto Bakery and Café has closed its sister location inside the Spout Springs Library in Flowery Branch.

According to a social media post from the Friends of the Hall County Library System, the cafe has closed as of Friday.

“Diletto Bakery has made the difficult decision of closing our Flowery Branch location located inside the Spout Springs Library; our Gainesville location will remain open to continue serving our customers with our delightful treats," Owner James Velez said. "We will like to thank the local community and the Friends of the Hall County Library for the opportunity and the support given during the time we were at this location.”

“The Friends are sorry to see Diletto and the Velez family close the Spout Springs location," Ruth Bruner, president of the Friends of the Hall County Library said. "They offer a wonderful menu with delicious food, and we were hopeful this would be a long-term partnership.  That said, the main objective of our Friends group is to advocate and fundraise for the library.  As part of that advocacy, we also work to better our community as a whole.  The Friends always want to support the success of a locally owned business.  In this case, that means closing the south Diletto location. Unfortunately, there were not enough customers to sustain the business and make it profitable. We are all disappointed and saddened that this didn’t work out.”

The social media post said the Friends of the Library would be working with library staff and the library board to determine the best use of the space that Diletto occupied.
