The Flowery Branch City Council voted to approve the first reading of a proposed 74-home development project at 6300 Jones Road near Lake Lanier.

Heritage Group Homes, LLC submitted an application to develop 22.17 acres with 54 front-entry garage units and 20 rear-entry garage units.

According to planning documents, rear-entry lots are 50 feet wide and 5,500 square feet, front-entry lots are 65 feet wide and 7,150 square feet.

The applicant Chris Hill said he expects the homes to be around $600,000 to $700,000.

After a tied vote, Mayor Ed Asbridge cast the tie-breaking vote in approval of the proposal.

Flowery Branch officials denied a 144-lot townhome development on the same tract last year.
