The AAA estimates more than 49 million Americans will take a Thanksgiving road Trip.
Of the 49 million, AAA expects to assist over 360,000 stranded motorists nationwide. In order to help reduce this number, the AAA’s Auto Club Group urges Americans to have their vehicles inspected before leaving home to prevent any roadside issue from happening.
“Before setting out for your holiday road trip, ensure your tires, battery, and brakes are all in proper working condition; and don’t forget to pack an emergency kit for added peace of mind,’ Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA said.
Other items to check beforehand include, wiper blades and windshield cleaner, engine oil, coolant, and having a well equipped emergency kit.
Although if trouble does arrive, AAA recommends drivers to pull over as far as possible, turn hazard lights on, call for assistance and remain with their vehicle if it is safe to do so. If a person must exit their vehicle they should remain on high alert of incoming traffic.
Additionally, for the safety of everyone sharing the road, the AAA urges drivers to remain conscious of their surroundings and follow the Georgia Move Over Law when required.
