Gainesville man dies from apparent freak residential zipline accident

By Access WDUN Staff

A Gainesville man died over the weekend in what appears to be a freak accident involving a homemade zipline at a residence in the 4300 block of Whitmire Circle.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene by a neighbor just before 1:15 p.m. Saturday, October 21. Officials say that when they arrived, they found 58-year-old Stephen Reeves entangled in a rope in the middle of the zipline, hanging several feet from the ground.

Hall County Sheriff's officials say Reeves was deceased, and believe Mr. Reeves had been dead less than 24 hours.

Investigators are not certain behind the reason for the homemade zipline and have not released the exact cause behind Reeves' death.
