Gainesville man charged with methamphetamine trafficking

A Gainesville man was arrested Tuesday on drug charges following a traffic accident earlier in January in Lula.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Thomas Randall Broome, 37, was charged with felony trafficking of methamphetamine and felony possession of marijuana.

Broome was hospitalized for injuries he suffered in a single-vehicle crash on Latty Road in Lula on January 2.

Authorities from the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol both responded to the scene of the accident. They found a quantity of what appeared to be illegal narcotics at the accident site and contacted drug agents to respond to the scene.

Drug agents confiscated 340 grams of methamphetamine and 90 grams of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia. The illegal drugs had an estimated street value of $25,500.

Broome remained in the Hall County Jail as of Wednesday morning.
