A Gainesville man was charged with aggravated assault in connection with a May 16 incident outside a laundromat on Main Street in downtown Lula.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer B.J. Williams said John David Wilson, 52, was originally arrested for allegedly breaking the rear window of a vehicle during an argument.
Wilson was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal damage to property. He was released from the Hall County Jail the same day on $2,950.
The sheriff’s office property crimes unit later obtained surveillance footage from the laundromat, which they said depicted Wilson firing at the victim’s vehicle with a small-caliber handgun.
“When the victim attempted to run back into the laundromat, Mr. Wilson fired at the victim,” Williams said.
The victim was not injured in the shooting.
Wilson was arrested on Friday, May 23, and remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.
