The Georgia Department of Transportation and construction partner Georgia Bridge and Concrete, LLC have closed a portion of SR 82 in order to replace the bridge over the Middle Oconee River in Barrow and Jackson counties.
The bridge will be replaced in its existing location and will have two 12-foot lanes and 8-foot shoulders.
Traffic will be maintained with the implementation of an offsite detour that will require drivers to drive about 7.8 miles to travel from the intersection of SR 330 to the intersection of SR 15.
According to a press release sent by the GDOT, the department expects that the road will be closed for up to 7 months.
