Norcross man arrested for shooting at Best Friend Park

The Gwinnett County Police Department on Wednesday arrested a Norcross man after he shot at a person’s car during the early morning hours Tuesday at Best Friend Park.
 
Eddie Crocket, 24, was playing basketball at the park on 6224 Jimmy Carter Blvd. when a physical altercation happened between Crocket, the victim and another male. 
 
The victim got in his car to leave and Crocket shot in his direction. The victim’s car was hit, but the victim was uninjured.
 
Gwinnett County Police officers arrived at Best Friend Park around 1 a.m., where they took information on the suspect’s appearance. Crocket was wearing a black t-shirt, black basketball shorts and white and red basketball shoes.
 
The Gwinnett County Police West Precinct CRT officers followed up with the investigation. They collected surveillance video and spoke to other parties of interest. Officers saw a man Tuesday afternoon, who was leaving a room at Hometown Studios, that matched the suspect’s description.
 
Officers executed a search warrant of the room and were able to identify Crocket as the suspect. During the search, officers found a firearm, three magazines and basketball shoes that matched Crocket’s description from the shooting.
 
Crocket was arrested and faces a long list of charges: 2 counts of terroristic threats and acts, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property 2nd degree, possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and reckless conduct.
