A body was recovered from Lake Knickerbocker in Gainesville on Saturday, and authorities believe it belonged to a man who may have taken own life earlier this week.
"At around 3:00 p.m. emergency crews responded to the lake for the recovery of an adult male," said Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook Saturday evening. "We do believe this to be the same individual we have been looking for, but will have to await autopsy results to be definitive."
A search and recovery effort for the possible suicide victim began around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Gainesville Police, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources were all involved in the search.

Authorities have been searching for a possible suicide victim in Lake Knickerbocker in Gainesville since 9 a.m. Wednesday.
