Two hospitalized after crash in downtown Flowery Branch

Two people were seriously injured in a crash in Flowery Branch Friday night.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Nissan Frontier was going south on Ga. 13 approaching Phil Niekro Boulevard when it ran a red light and hit a westbound Volkswagen Jetta. The Frontier was flipped onto its roof.

The two people in the Jetta were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with what officials called serious injuries. The wreck is still under investigation and the names of those involved have not been released.

The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. and shut down the intersection of Ga. 13 and Phil Niekro Boulevard for over four hours according to a social media post from the Flowery Branch Police Department.
