No bond for suspect accused of killing former coach at Gwinnett Co gas station

A Gwinnett County judge denied bond for one of the three suspects accused of killing a former coach at a gas station on Peachtree Parkway.

Alleged gunman Josiah Hughley, 20, was arrested in September for allegedly killing Bradley Coleman, 29, during an attempted carjacking on July 10. The U.S. Marshals Service helped take Hughley into custody.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hughley’s defense attorney Tracy Drake requested a bond of $50,000. Drake said Hughley is the father of a 1-year-old, and that the murder suspect needed to work to support his child.

Victim Coleman was also a father, and he was in Georgia to visit his young daughter. Coleman lived in Louisiana, but he was a Norcross High School graduate and he also coached football at Peachtree Ridge High School.

The other two suspects, Miles Collins and David Booker, both 20, were arrested before Coleman. All three suspects face felony murder, aggravated assault and gang offenses charges. The trio has been indicted and they remain in the Gwinnett County Jail.

According to the initial investigation, Coleman was filling the air in his tires at the QuikTrip near Peachtree Corners Circle when the suspects targeted his car. One of the suspects climbed into Coleman’s driver’s seat, so Coleman went to the passenger side to prevent the theft.

Then the suspects exited the car and one of them fatally shot Coleman.

A detective said Flock cameras helped police identify the suspects’ Mercedes-Benz, which was linked to a rental agreement. The AJC reports that police contacted the man who rented the car to the suspects, and the man said Collins and Booker returned it 90 minutes after the shooting.
