Update, Nov. 1: The suspect accused of shooting a Gwinnett County teenager last week is now in custody. On Sunday, Brendon Young turned himself into a sheriff's office in Florida. According to Gwinnett County Police, he is awaiting extradition to Gwinnett County. Investigators are still working to determine a motive.
Edited Story, Oct. 28 : The Gwinnett County Police Department has charged a man from Lawrenceville in connection with the shooting death of a Norcross High School student on Wednesday.
Brendon Young, 18 of Lawrenceville, is accused of shooting DeAndre Henderson, 17 of Norcross.
Gwinnett County Police Department spokeswoman Hideshi Valle said Young’s whereabouts are currently unknown.
The shooting happened shortly after 12:06 p.m. on Technology Parkway in Peachtree Corners. Officers found Henderson with a gunshot wound and rendered aid. Gwinnett Emergency Services transported Henderson to a local hospital where he died.
According to the preliminary investigation, Henderson left the Norcross High School campus during school hours. However, the shooting did not happen on school grounds and authorities believe it was an isolated incident.
Young is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
