Bill Andrew, the former longtime city manager in Flowery Branch, has landed a new position in Oxford, Ga.

News outlets in Newton and Rockdale counties indicted Andrew began his new job as Oxford's city manager on Aug. 30.

Andrew abruptly resigned from his job in Flowery Branch on May 12. He gave no explanation for his departure. He had worked as the city manager in Flowery Branch for 15 years at the time of his resignation.

A news release issued by Oxford officials said Andrew "is amply prepared for the challenge of managing Oxford’s staff and overseeing the affairs of our city."

Andrew holds an undergraduate degree from Berry College in Rome and a master's degree from Western Carolina University.

Vickie Short was appointed as interim city manager for Flowery Branch. She continues to work in that capacity as the city searches for a full-time city manager.
