A man from Duluth is the latest person from Georgia arrested by federal officials for crimes related to the raid by hundreds of people on the U.S. Capitol in January.

The FBI arrested Jonathan Davis Laurens, 38, on Wednesday, June 30, according to documents on the United States Department of Justice website

Investigating agents said they were able to track Laurens' activity the day of Jan. 6, 2021 by capturing screen shots from his Facebook page. The complaint also indicated the FBI received several tips from the public about Laurens and his presence at the Capitol the day of the breach. Additionally, investigating agents were able to track Laurens' activity at the Capitol building via videos captured at the scene.

Specific charges against Laurens were listed in the FBI investigation document:

  • Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds without Lawful Authority

  • Enter and Remaining on the Floor of Congress
  • Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building and Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building
