An Atlanta-area pediatric dentist who has practiced in Cumming was recently arrested on child pornography-related charges.
According to a press release from the FBI's Atlanta Field Office, Dr. Paul Kim was arrested after agents executed search warrants at his home in Metro Atlanta.
The agency said agents found videos that contained child pornography as a result of those search warrants. Court documents show the investigation initially began as part of an investigation into an online sexual exploitation ring that advertises the sale of child sexual abuse materials on several websites. Investigators allegedly discovered a cryptocurrency account tied to Kim which had purchased materials from the sexual exploitation ring.
Kim was charged with possession of child pornography.
A federal judge granted Kim a $100,000 bond and placed him on monitored home incarceration, with no internet access and no access to children.
Kim worked out of dentistry practices in Austell, Dunwoody and Cumming. FBI Atlanta has also notified the licensing board. The agency said it was continuing to investigate Kim as well as others.
