With the Nov. 15 property tax deadline approaching, the Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office is reminding taxpayers that there are several options to pay taxes without traveling to the tax office.
“We’ve been working for a long time on creating multiple ways for taxpayers to access our office without coming in our door,” Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden said. “Today, about the only reason for visiting our office is to title a vehicle.”
The preferred method is making online payments at hallcountytax.org by clicking on the "property & mobile home tax" button on the home page and following the prompts. Online payment methods include e-check ($1.50 flat fee) and debit/credit card (2.5% of amount plus $.30 cents per transaction). Most major credit cards are accepted.
The newest method of payment is with PayPal Credit, which allows users to take up to six months to pay a property tax bill. The PayPal Credit payment option is a line of credit that is interest-free if paid in full within the six-month window.
Another option is payment by mail, using the return envelope provided with the statement sent to the resident's address on file. Check or credit card info can be sent to P.O. Box 1579, Gainesville, GA 30503. Payments must be postmarked by Nov. 15, 2021, to avoid interest charges.
Residents may also call or text the tax office during business hours for assistance with credit and debit card payments. The phone number is (770) 531-6950 and the text number is (833) 602-8497.
Citizens may also utilize the drop box located in front of the main doors of the Hall County Government Center at 2875 Browns Bridge Road. Payments must be placed in the drop box on or before Nov. 15 to avoid state-mandated interest charges.
In-office tax payments paid in cash are allowed in the entrance lobby of the government center. Payments made by check or card will be handled at the information desk where a receipt can be mailed or emailed if requested.
The Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
