CLARKESVILLE — Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire said Wednesday night officials have positively identified the body discovered in a wooded area in northern Habersham County recently as that of a man reported missing.
“The body located in a wooded area 1.5 miles off Low Gap Road north of Clarkesville has been positively identified as Jason Monroe Kelley, 43, of Clarkesville,” McEntire said.
Kelley went missing on Saturday, Sept. 12, and was located Friday, Sept. 18.
A celebration of life for Kelley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Good News Baptist Church, Cornelia.
No identification yet in earlier case
Regarding the body located off Ga. 197 near Clarkesville on Sept. 10, there is no update on identification at this time.
“Due to factors of decomposition, more extensive tests are required and those results are forthcoming once a positive identification can be made,” McEntire said.
“It has been a difficult few weeks in Habersham County and our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families, friends, searchers, responders and others impacted,” McEntire said.
